China’s logistics demand has grown by 9.4 percent during the first three quarters of 2021 when compared to the same period in 2020, despite the resurgence of Covid-19 cases, extreme weather conditions and power cuts in the country, according to the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP).

During the period, the total value of goods in the logistics sector grew about $36.69 trillion, which is an 11.4 percent increase year-on-year.

CFLP further revealed that logistics demand generally maintained a recovery momentum since the beginning of the year, with its scale and growth rate higher than the same period before the pandemic.

Recently, it was reported that Alibaba’s logistics arm Cainiao Network announced a series of measures to boost its logistics capabilities for the upcoming 11.11 Global Shopping Festival. The firm aims to optimise the delivery of orders generated via the event by Alibaba’s cross-border e-commerce platforms to consumers across the globe.

Cainiao Network Chief Strategist and General Manager for Export Logistics William Xiong told the media, “Over the years, 11.11 has showcased the tremendous demand from consumers across the globe. In gearing up for another successful 11.11, technology plays a critical role in the seamless execution and delivery of billions of parcels globally.

“Behind every great shopping festival is great logistics efficiency and reliably meeting great consumer expectations. Our technology will accelerate the automation of every aspect of the delivery journey to create a truly global infrastructure that can bolster the e-commerce boom.”
