Cognizant registers an annual growth of 9.8 percent

But sees a loss of US$18 million in its fourth quarter

Cognizant Technology Solutions saw an annual growth of 9.8 percent with revenues of US$ 14.81 billion last year.

With this the company met its forecast of 9-10 percent growth during the year.

Cognizant had a net profit of US$ 1.5 billion in 2017.

Cognizant has the major number of its employees in India and follows a January-December fiscal year.

According to Cognizant, in the three months ending 30 December, the company had revenue that increased 10.6 percent from a year earlier, and picked up 1.6 percent from the preceding September quarter, to $3.83 billion.

But records have also shown that the company stumbled into a US$18 million loss in the fourth quarter, after $416 million profit a year before and a US$ 495 million profit in its third quarter.

For 2018, the US based IT multinational organisation anticipates to have revenue ranging between US$ 16-16.30 billion in the current year.

Francisco D’Souza, the CEO of Cognizant who expects that the current year will be ‘strong’ for the company said: “Consistent and solid execution throughout 2017, along with continued investments to further accelerate the shift to Digital during the year, gives us confidence that we can deliver a strong 2018.”

The company is hopeful about generating a revenue of ranging between $16 billion and $16.3 billion in the current year.
