Dubai’s Transport Authority (RTA) has granted a contract for the development of internal roadways and lighting works in Al Qusais industrial zones 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
The project will see 32 roads spanning 10km laid out with 43km of streetlights. The number of vehicles travelling the road will increase by 200%, from 500 to 1,500 per hour, in both directions.
Mattar Al Tayer, director-general and chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, said, “The internal roads project… improves the linking of Al Qusais industrial areas, which are served by four main streets: Amman, Beirut, Halab, and Damascus streets. It improves the entrances and exits for 320 workshops, 25 residential buildings, shops, and educational zones. The population of the area is estimated at 60,000 people.”
Ongoing Works
With a combined length of nearly 37km, the four residential communities of Margham, Lehbab, Al Lisaili, and Hatta are the subject of current RTA internal road and lighting construction projects. It is anticipated that this project will be finished by the end of this year. The Margham internal roads project entails building roadways that run for 8 km along the Dubai-Al Ain Road, close to Skydive Dubai. Over 1,100 neighbourhood residents are served by the project.
The RTA is building 4 km of roads in Lehbab, as well as street lighting and rainfall drainage projects. It serves about 3,000 residents and improves the linkage of the residential area under construction with the road network.
Moreover, roads extending about 7km are being constructed in Al Lisaili. The streetlight works for existing roads extending 14km in Saih Assalam near the Last Exit and Al Qudra Lake are also underway. The project will improve the area’s access and departure points while serving around 2,900 residents.
In Hatta, Sa’aeer, Al Salami, and Suhaila are developing 2 km-long roads. The project will improve the entry and departure points of the residential community and will serve around 6,000 residents.
