Automobiles in Houston will soon be able to alert dangers on the road in front, and communicate with other cars as well.

According to abc 13 News, “the technology is being tested in the small town of Marysville, Ohio, and it’s designed to see how well the system would work in larger cities, like Houston.”

The pilot program had nearly 1,200 vehicles with ‘connected technology’ that allows the automobiles to connect with each other. In addition, they will be able to detect road signals, crosswalks, and traffic lights.

Officials will largely benefit from testing the system on highly congested roads as it indicates the possibilities of expanding the technology across the United States.
