Saudi Arabia-based logistics and last-mile delivery firm Diggipacks has acquired Egypt-based storage fulfillment provider FWRUN, media reports said. The acquisition of FWRUN will help Diggipacks expand in the Egyptian market.

Founded in 2020 by Hassan Jabarti and Amin Al-Atrash, Diggipacks can handle 5,000 shipments a day on an area spanning over 15,000 square metres.

In a press release, the company said that it does not own any assets, but rather provides high-quality technology to connect merchants with a huge number of 3pl warehouses all over the Kingdom, in addition to linking with more than 30 shipping companies operating inside the Kingdom, that provides merchants with endless options in order to maintain a constant level of service in terms of efficiency and quality.

The co-founders further expressed their optimism regarding the expansion of the two companies in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, which in fact will enable the provision of high-quality technology in the Egyptian market.

Last week, it was reported that US-based e-commerce giant Amazon is planning to launch in Egypt the largest logistics centre in Africa. The same was inaugurated on August 31st, 2021. According to media reports, the inauguration was attended by Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, telecommunications Minister Amr Talaat, and Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea.

Amazon has been operating in Egypt since 2017 through Souq.com. However, now Souq.com has become Amazon.sa and Amazon.ae in both Saudi Arabia and the UAE since Amazon acquired Souq.com in both markets.
