Xi Jinping enters his second term of leadership

Promised that the nation will witness a ‘new era’ of modernization

Xi Jinping whom the Communist Party yesterday named as the most powerful leader after Mao Tse-tung, will be serving a second term of five years as the leader of the ruling Communist Party.

The Chinese President will continue his leadership role with the agenda to boost affluence and inflate the nation’s influence across the globe.

It was a closed-door election in which Xi was re-elected. Li Keqiang, the Prime Minister will also continue to hold his position. Apart from Xi Jinping and Li Keqiang, the new members of the Politburo Standing Committee are Han Zheng, Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Wang Yang and Zhao Leji.

The new seven members of Politburo Standing Committee appreared before a media event telecast which went live all over world from Beijing’s massive Great Hall of the People.

Thanking the national and international media, Xi spoke about the nation’s entry into the new ‘new era’ of modernization. He said, “As I look ahead to the next five years, I see several important junctures and signposts.”

He also said, “Not only we must deliver the first centenary goal, we must also embark on the journey towards the second centenary goal.”

Addressing the delegates and dignitaries in the Great Hall, he said, “Currently, conditions domestically and abroad are undergoing deep and complicated changes. Our country is in an important period of strategic opportunity in its development. The outlook is extremely bright; the challenges are also extremely grim.”
