The Finnish based bank launches fuelling feature to its app

February 23, 2016: Finnish-based S-Bank is set on making everyday life easier by bringing a new mobile fuelling feature to its award-winning S-Mobile iPhone app. The unique service now combines mobile fuelling with mobile banking, a retail customer loyalty programme and targeted customer coupons. Mobile fuelling features easy fuel pump activation, invisible mobile payments, and navigation to the nearest petrol station.

The innovative service combines retail, banking and fuelling, providing the customer with a frictionless service. By bringing together basic everyday services under one simple app, S-Bank is transforming the entire retail customer experience.

Using the app is straightforward and effortless: at the station, S-Mobile automatically recognises the customer’s location. Fuelling can be initiated by simply choosing the correct fuel pump from the app. After fuelling, the payment is handled automatically through the S-Bank Visa card, linking the payment with customer loyalty benefits.

As payment is handled directly through the app, there is no need for QR codes or additional panels at the pumps.

‘We want to create simple services with a superb digital banking and retail experience for our 2.8 million customers. With our service, customers no longer need to use traditional card readers and PIN codes at the petrol station. In the Finnish winter, where temperatures can dip below -30 degrees Celsius, traditional pump activation is a hassle. We believe that the app can overcome such inconveniences and ensure a seamless customer experience with automatic payments for the user. This new service is only one way in which we aim to make everyday life easier for our customers,’ says Pekka Ylihurula, Managing Director of S-Bank.
