Adam Zhang, a co-founder of Lime, started Velotric in July 2021. Its staff includes former members of Giant, Specialized, Decathlon, and Lime. Following its success on Indiegogo, the business’s first vehicle, the Discover 1, had its retail debut in March 2021.

In contrast to the urban/city roller, which only has a step-through frame, the Nomad 1 has a step-through or step-over aluminum alloy frame that can fit riders with heights between 5.08 and 6.75 feet (1.55 – 2.05 m). Front and rear fenders are standard, and optional front/rear racks may be purchased for carrying up to 88 lb (40 kg) of gear or groceries. The e-bike is rated for a maximum weight of 440 lb (200 kg).

Velotric has bumped up the power for this one too, with the Nomad 1 sporting a 750-W (1,200-W peak) rear-hub motor for 55.3 lb.ft (75 Nm) of torque and five levels of pedal assist up to 20 mph (32 km/h), plus a thumb throttle for an even easier hill climb. Additionally, there is an 8-speed Shimano gear set for a ride with additional flexibility, especially for inclines.

A 692-Wh downtube Li-ion battery paired with the engine offers a range of up to 55 miles per charge and has been tested for performance in cold climates (88 km).

The adventure e-bike has hydraulic disc brakes with 180-mm rotors, a terrain-smoothing hydraulic lockout suspension fork with 80 mm of travel, and 26-inch chunky rims with 4-inch-wide puncture-resistant CST tyres.
