UAE tops the list for 5G download speed, but Kuwait takes the cake for 5G video experience, scoring 72.4 out of 100

According to UK-based mobile analytics company Opensignal, among the nations in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) area, the UAE has the quickest average 5G download speed.

When using the fifth generation (5G) mobile network for mobile voice app communications, multiplayer mobile gaming, and mobile video streaming, OpenSignal has investigated the 5G experience of GCC smartphone users. It examined the speed and accessibility of 5G as well as the improvement in experience over earlier 4G services.

With customers reporting average download speeds of 316.8 Mbps, the UAE tops the list for 5G download speed, ahead of Kuwait and Qatar. Kuwait is also the only market where users had an excellent experience with 5G video, making it the best market overall (75 pr above).

The three countries also top the area for 5G peak download speed, with Kuwait scoring 663.7 Mbps, Qatar scoring 713.4 Mbps, and the UAE scoring 743 Mbps.

With a score of 74 out of 100 for their 5G gaming experience, the UAE also won.

The GCC continues to see advancements in 5G. According to OpenSignal’s analysis, customers in all six markets enjoy much faster speeds and a better video viewing experience thanks to 5G.

Although smaller markets dominate the rankings for 5G download speed, Saudi Arabia’s position is noteworthy because its users experienced significant improvements in both speed and video quality as well as good 5G availability despite its size.
