Vietjet to launch operations in India, offers ticket price at Rs 9

The carrier will operate two direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to New Delhi starting from December

Vietnam-based low-cost airline Vietjet has announced that it will operate two direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to New Delhi, India.  As a part of a promotional activity, the airline is offering thousands of tickets priced at Rs 9 onwards excluding VAT, airport fees, and other surcharges for three days. These tickets can be availed through the airline’s website or mobile app.

The flight connecting Ho Chi Minh City and New Delhi will be operational from December 6, 2019. It will fly four days a week. Similarly, the flight services from Hanoi to New Delhi will begin from December 7, 2019, and will operate three days a week.

With these new Vietjet flight routes from Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi to India’s New Delhi, Vietjet will connect India to other Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, and Japan.

Nguyen Thanh Son, Vietjet’s Vice President told the media that, “India is one of our priority markets and an important addition to our growing network.”

Currently, Vietjet operates 400 flights daily with 129 flight routes. The airline has carried more than 80 million passengers since its inception to various destinations such as Japan, Myanmar, Singapore, the Republic of Korea, Taiwan, China, Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Cambodia.

The company also recorded an 11 increase in its profit before tax in the first half of the year. The airline maintained its dominance in domestic transportation with a 44 percent market share.
