Arvato Supply Chain Solutions has further expanded its network in China with two new locations, media reports said. The supply chain company has set new distribution centres in Shanghai and Guangzhou.

Now, Arvato Supply Chain has a total of six distribution centres in China with almost 40,000 square meters of storage space.

Raoul Kuetemeier, Head of Asia at Arvato Supply Chain Solutions told the media, “Within the past few months we have added two key sites to our footprint in line with our strategic goal to grow our Asian business together with our international customers.”

In Shanghai, the new distribution centre is located in the Yangshan Free Trade Zone (FTZ).

It was reported earlier this month that South Korean conglomerate CJ Group is planning to sale its logistics unit in China. CJ Rokin Logistics Supply Chain could be sold at around $1 billion.

So far, CJ Group has already received preliminary interest from potential buyers including other logistics firms as well as investment funds.

In September, Finnish logistics company Nurminen Logistics has launched a new rail freight service connecting Europe with China, media reports said.

The new route launched by Nurminen Logistics will connect Finland’s capital Helsinki and Chongqing in Southwest China. It also includes a branch line connecting the Norwegian town of Narvik and Chongqing through Helsinki.

The weekly rail service will carry refrigerated containers with a journey time of 11 to 14 days. One train can carry 40 45’ reefer containers, with temperatures between -25 degrees Celcius and +25 degrees Celcius monitored reliably throughout the journey.
