Dubai Police have inducted the luxury sports utility vehicle Lamborghini Urus to its elite fleet as part of the UAE’s 50th-anniversary celebrations. Dubbed as a super SUV, the Lamborghini Urus sports a front-mounted, 4.0-liter petrol V8 twin-turbo aluminium engine. This gives the car a high level of torque at low revs for off-road capabilities.
The car has the best weight-to-power ratio at 3.38 kg/hp in its class. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 12.8 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 305 km/h. The Urus decelerates from 100 km/h to 0 in 33.7 meters.
A press release by Dubai Police said that the police chief praised the close cooperation with Lamborghini and explained that by adding supercars to its fleet of luxury patrol vehicles, Dubai Police will be better equipped to ensure the security presence of police officers during international events and across essential tourist destinations.
Earlier this week, the car was handed over by top executives — Andrew Boux, EMEA Marketing Middle East & Africa at Automobili Lamborghini, and Paolo Sartori, Head of Middle East & Africa at Automobili Lamborghini to Lt-Gen Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police in an official event.
Other than adding luxury vehicles to its elite fleet of patrol cars, the police in Dubai are also adding self-driving cars too to keep up with the cutting-edge technological developments around the world.
