Hyderabad went through a lot of preparations owing to the summit and Ivanka’s arrival. To prep up for the summit, Hyderabad left no stone unturned – from making the city spotless, decking it up with festive lights, the city went on to make the city beggar-free. The local government even announced Tuesday as a public holiday.

Talking about strengthening economy and women empowerment, Ivanka said in an interview, “One of the main challenges globally is creating economic opportunities and generating economic prosperity for all our citizens – in the US, India, and throughout the world. “For the first time, over 50% of this year’s participants will be women! I aim for GES 2017 to be a global celebration that elevates the importance of empowering women entrepreneurs. When women do better, communities and countries thrive.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Ivanka will address the opening session of the sumit.

Among the notable speakers are Google Vice President of Next Billion Users Diana Louise Patricia Layfield, tennis player Sania Mirza and CEO of Afghan Citadel Software Company Roya Mahboob.
