DP World to acquire 51% in Ukraine’s TIS Container Terminal

The acquisition is in line with DP World’s plan to develop robust logistics for transporting cargo from one point to another

DP World is set to acquire a 51 percent stake in the TransInvestService (TIS) Container Terminal in the Port of Yuzhny, Ukraine. The terminal container is a division of TIS Group, which comprises the country’s largest grain terminal, coal terminal, pellet terminal and fertiliser terminal.

The acquisition is in line with DP World’s strategy to develop robust logistics solutions for transporting cargo from one point to another. The port operator follows the highest standard of international practices to streamline terminal operators and demonstrate consistent performance.

DP World including TIS Container Terminal into its global network of ports, economic zones, warehousing, and inland logistics solutions will strengthen its market presence in the country..

TIS is Ukraine’s biggest private terminal operator in the Port of Yuzhny. It is reported that the TIS Container Terminal has the longest and deepest container shipping berth in Ukraine.

Based on DP World’s data, the country’s container market rose by more than 20 percent last year. TIS Container Terminal has one of the best railway connections in the region to major Ukrainian cities.

Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, DP World Group Chairman and CEO, told the media that, “Our goal is to build the industry’s leading data-driven supply chain solutions through our global portfolio, creating opportunities for our customers to realise game-changing value and accelerate their cargo deployments. We believe the strategic partnership with TIS Group will enable the terminal to continue growing, further cementing TIS Container Terminal’s position as the leading gateway to Ukraine.”
