The number of financial companies operating in Dubai International Finance Centre (DIFC), the leading financial hub in Middle East, Africa, and South Asia region, has yet again increased by around 11 percent against the backdrop of a slowing global economy. As of now, almost 2290 companies have now made it their base, which has increased the number of jobs available by 660.
DIFC has welcomed 250 new companies this year, with the number of registered firms now reaching 2,289.This demonstrates an increase of 14 percent compared to previous year. The total number of employees working in Dubai International Finance Centre has gone up to 24000 and almost 99 percent of its buildings have been occupied.
Several financial firms have joined it in 2019, including Maybank Islamic from Malaysia, Cantor Fitzgerald from United States of America, Atlas Wealth Management from Australia and Mauritius Commercial Bank. A few non-financial firms like Guidepoint MEA, Medtronic finance Hungary and Network International have also become a part of it.
A consulting firm Z/Yen ranked Dubai as the leading financial centre in Middle East. The position of the hub has changed from 15th to 12th.
The firm had recently sent a delegation to the Indian state of Maharashtra in a strategic move to present DIFC as an ideal base for Indian companies looking to expand in the South Asian region. The delegation included Essa Kazim, the governor of DIFC and Arif Amiri, Chief Executive Officer of DIFC Authority.
