DP World and the Saudi Ports Authority (Marwani) have launched a new shipping line that will connect the Port of Jebel Ali in Dubai with Egypt’s Port of Sokhna through the Jeddah Islamic Port in Saudi Arabia.
Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, DP World Group Chairman, and chief executive officer told the media, “DP World is pleased that our strategic partnership with the Saudi Ports Authority (Marwani) is moving from strength to strength, thanks to the continued support of His Excellency Eng. Saleh Bin Nasser Al-Jasser, the Right Honorable Minister of Transport.”
“The shipping line will directly benefit the Arab world’s three largest markets. We’re committed to delivering best-in-class efficiency and productivity using smart technology-led logistics.”
“The strategic positioning of our ports also enhances the flow of global trade along the arterial – Europe/Asia – sea route. DP World in Jeddah is integral to the Saudi ports ecosystem and raises the Kingdom’s competitiveness in line with its 2030 growth vision.”
Recently, DP World completed the acquisition of a 51 percent stake in TIS Container Terminal in the Port of Yuzhny in Ukraine, the media reported.
According to DP World, the acquisition of TIS Container Terminal will help the company expand its operations as well as strengthen TIS Container Terminal as one of the key market-leading purpose-built terminals in Ukraine by leveraging DP World’s global network of ports, economic zones, warehousing, and inland logistics solutions.
The acquisition marks DP World’s second major partnership with TIS shareholders, the first being with P&O Maritime Ukraine.
