Recently, Google combined its video conferencing and video calling platforms into one. The Google Duo app was renamed Meet as a result of the merger. The business also released an upgrade earlier in August that changed the Duo’s Blue icon to the Meet icon.
It had also added Meet features into the app combining it with the regular Duo calls and other features.
However, it combined its video calling as well as a conferencing platform into one. Previously, Google had come up with an update replacing the Duo’s Blue icon with the Meet icon. But this wasn’t it, Google also decided to incorporate the Meet features into the app along with the regular Duo calls as well as other features.
As per 9to5, Google has once again reported that they will soon be coming back with the Duo name along with the icon for Android smartphones. With this news, it sparked rumors that this step by the company was due to some buy or issue. However, Google cleared the air by stating on its website that it was an intentional change.
As stated in Google’s report by rolling back the Duo icon, users will find it easier to locate the app. It has also been noted that Google Duo has a much bigger user base as compared to Google Meet. In the future users will find both the apps — Google Duo and Google Meet in the app launcher launching the same unified app.
It is also worth mentioning that Google is yet to update the Duo’s listing on Play Store as it still shows Google Duo in the app store.
