IDE Technologies has won an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the Aconcagua Desalination Plant, media reports said. The Aconcagua Desalination Plant is located in Chile. The company secured the contract from Aguas Pacífico, which was founded by a Brazilian investment company Pátria Investimentos.
Under the terms of the contract, IDE Technologies will take over the engineering, supply, construction and commissioning of a seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant, media reports said.
Aguas Pacífico CEO Enrique Cruzat, told the media, “IDE presented the best offer both technically and economically to Aguas Pacífico, an investment vehicle of Patria Investments Infrastructure Fund, after the successful conclusion of a highly competitive international tender process for the Aconcagua Project’s EPC contract. Project Aconcagua is the first permanent, secure and sustainable multi-client non-continental freshwater source in Chile’s Valparaíso Region.”
IDE Technologies has profound experience in hundreds of desalination plants globally. That said, the company has more than 20 successfully operating projects in Chile since 1990. This includes the Quebrada Blanca Phase 2 desalination project slated for completion next year.
The Aconcagua Desalination Plant is expected to become Aconcagua basin’s first drought-proof source of freshwater. It will serve municipal, agricultural, industrial and mining clients in the region, with a production capacity of 86,400 m3/day.
