IBM, University of Indonesia build data course for students

The course on big data and cognitive computing was started on February 14 this year and more than 100 students took part

The branch of America’s multinational giant IBM Indonesia announced its recent collaboration with the University of Indonesia to start big data and cognitive computing course.

The initiative comes with an effort to facilitate better data analytics in the country and improve the aptitude. According to Jakarta Globe, students of the Faculty of Economics and Business can sign up for the course, which will take place for the next five years by IBM Indonesia.

The faculty’s Accounting Chairman Ancella A. Hermawan said, “We feel it is important to equip students with the knowledge of data analytics and big data, so we decided to work with IT industry leaders such as IBM.” As part of the course, guest lectures will be presented by the company’s technology and industry experts.

The company, said in a statement, “Cognitive computing is a new era of computing, and we have seen a rising demand for it across industries. Our partnership with University of Indonesia to run the first class in this subject is part of our commitment to prepare the younger generations for a new era of technology.”
