Total Produce has completed its full transition to deep green renewable energy sources for its business units across the UK. This transition will power its 24 business units overall. Of the units, 18 are in the UK, three in Scotland and three in Wales. This even includes central distribution centres, production facilities, regional depots and TPUK’s Head Office in Liverpool.

The UK is taking necessary steps to swifty accomplish its renewable energy transition in the coming years. It is reported that the country’s renewable energy transition outpaced fossil fuel generation for the first time last year.

Now Total has invested a lot of effort to achieve its transition. Francis McKernan, Regional Managing Director of Total Produce UK & Ireland, told the media, “In Total Produce, we are 100 percent committed to becoming an ever more sustainable business. In completing our transition to renewable electric power across our UK operations we’re building on sustainability initiatives underway right across our group and demonstrating our determination to lead our industry in the responsible marketing of the finest fresh produce from close to home and around the world.”

For over a year, renewable energy was the main source of power generation in the country, media reports said. The UK’s stable wind farms are increasing in number and have notably contributed to its renewable record last year. It is reported that nearly a quarter of the country’s electricity was generated by wind turbines last year. This is twice the share of wind power in 2015.
