Facebook Community Chats: Connecting people with same interests

Facebook claimed to have created a comprehensive set of tools to assist administrators in easily managing both chat and audio experiences

Community Chats, a new tool from Facebook (now Meta), will soon enable users to communicate with their communities in real time using text, audio, and video on both Facebook and Messenger.

Community Chats will be a new way for users to meet others who have similar interests, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said.

Mark Zuckerberg said, “More than 1 billion people use Messenger to communicate with friends, and soon you’ll be able to start Community Chats from Messenger as well as Facebook Groups.”

Head of Messenger, Loredana Crisan, said, “We’ll also be expanding Community Chats to even more Facebook Groups.”

Instead of waiting for users to leave comments on a post, administrators can now start a discussion about a subject and receive quick responses.

“Rather than navigating multiple topics in a single Messenger group chat, the person who creates the Community Chat can organise chats into categories so group members can easily find what’s most interesting to them,” Loredana Crisan added.

Only group members will have access to Community Chats.

Facebook claimed to have created a comprehensive set of tools to assist administrators in easily managing both chat and audio experiences.

These tools include Admin Assist and moderation tools like blocking, muting, or suspending group members as well as the ability to block, mute, or remove members or messages.

Community Chat members can report messages to group administrators or Meta, block users, and exit a chat whenever they choose.
