She is a banking and finance special counsel

Withers has hired banking and finance special counsel, Xanthe Lok in its London office.  Xanthe joins the firm from Gowling WLG, where she was a senior member of the banking team, advising on corporate and real estate finance transactions, usually with a cross-border element.

Xanthe brings a wealth of legal and commercial experience in the banking industry.  Her practice focuses on advising borrowers, including public and private companies, trustees and private individuals, on new corporate facilities, re-financings, restructurings and ancillary facilities in a broad range of industry sectors and on real estate finance transactions (both investment and development) in relation to commercial and high-end residential property. She also acts for onshore and offshore lenders.

Jeremy Wakeham, Global Head of Withers’ Business division, comments: “Xanthe has long played a leading role on transactions, and we look forward to her assuming a prominent position in our banking and finance team.  Her broad experience will be very well-received by our entrepreneurial and institutional clients, and her work with private banks and individual borrowers demonstrates that she is well-placed to advise our high calibre client base.”

Recent highlights of the team’s work includes advising the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) and FELDA Investment Corporation on a £140 million refinancing deal, representing Mizhuo Bank in a £80million refinancing, as well as advising State Bank of India on a £300 million loan facility for the acquisition of the Old War Office in London.
