Visa and Pesapal have partnered to boost digital payments for consumers and small businesses in Africa, media reports said. With the new partnership, Pesapal will become a Visa Principal Member.
This strategic partnership will enable all Pesapal Mobile users to use universal Visa QR capabilities and the Visa Token Service for swift contactless payments. Pesapal is responsible for building a sustainable payment ecosystem in Africa offering ecommerce, point of sale, and consumer applications on a single platform.
Vice president and general manager, Visa East Africa, Corine Mbiaketcha, told the media, “We are excited to work with Pesapal to broaden our offering to a larger number of merchants and consumers, especially as governments and communities are increasingly focused on cashless and remote payments.”
For Visa, this partnership will act as a catalyst to drive payments acceptance across Africa, in addition to increasing financial inclusion on the continent. In a nutshell, the partnership between Visa and Pesapal will enable small businesses to accept various forms of Visa payments, including Visa QR, MPos, Mini POS, and POS. Pesapal has transformed the connected payment landscape which was previously for large businesses only.
