In five years, Twitter will be able to process payments and provide financial services, said the micro-blogging platform’s CEO Elon Musk, while speaking at the World Government Summit in Dubai.

The second richest man in the world spoke with Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the World Government Summit 2023, during which he laid out his company’s future roadmap, including choosing a CEO by the end of the year.

“I believe I must stabilise the organisation and ensure its financial soundness. Its product roadmap has to be well organised. I anticipate finding someone by the end of this year,” Elon Musk remarked.

According to the tech billionaire, the social media platform is stepping up its efforts to verify users and organisations to halt misinformation.

“I’m not convinced it will succeed or be flawless, but I’m sure it’s headed in the right path. Twitter is a startup in reverse, therefore there is a lot of work to be done before it can become stable. However, I do not intend to work excessively; an 80-hour work week will do, and that is what I hope to achieve,” he added.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk took a potshot at his detractors, as he posted the picture of the micro-blogging platform’s ‘New CEO’ recently, who is the billionaire’s pet dog, Floki, a Shiba Inu. Elon Musk felt that his pet would be a better CEO than the “other guy” Parag Agrawal.

Elon Musk shared a picture of his Shiba Inu dog Floki sitting on the CEO’s chair. Floki was seen wearing the Twitter-branded black T-shirt with CEO written on it. He also had documents lying on his table with his paw prints, along with a small laptop with a Twitter.

Sharting the picture, Elon Musk wrote, “The new CEO of Twitter is amazing”. In another tweet, he added that the new CEO of Twitter is much better than the “other” guy, which many reports are referring to Parag Agrawal.

Elon Musk fired Parag Agrawal immediately after taking over the micro-blogging company in a USD 44 billion dollar deal in 2022. Along with Parag Agrawal, Twitter’s legal head Vijaya Gadde and CFO Nel Segal were also fired.

In other news, Elon Musk has become so reportedly obsessed with his Twitter ownership, that he wants users to see all his tweets on their timelines, every time they open the app or scroll through it.

Elon Musk reportedly forced Twitter’s engineering team to work overnight and build a special system that will highlight Elon Musk’s tweets more than ever.

This happened right after both Elon Musk and US President Joe Biden tweeted about the Super Bowl, where the Twitter CEO’s tweet received fewer impressions in comparison. While Biden’s tweet received nearly 29 million impressions, Elon Musk’s got little over 9.1 million.

As per the Platformer, the Twitter CEO deleted his tweet and asked the engineers to explain why his tweet didn’t get as much response, apart from issuing the layoff threats to them. His cousin James Musk sent an urgent message to the Twitter engineers. In one of the internal groups, James called for anyone who knows how to write software and show Elon Musk’s tweets all over Twitter, which in turn will get more impressions and views.

“We are debugging an issue with engagement across the platform,” James Musk wrote in one of Slack groups by tagging “@here” so that anyone online would read it.

“Any people who can make dashboards and write software please can you help solve this problem. This is high urgency. If you are willing to help out please thumbs up this post,” Twitter CEO’s cousin wrote further in the Slack group.

All the remaining Twitter engineers worked overnight reportedly, after which the technical changes showcased Elon Musk’s tweets all over everyone’s timeline. This news comes amid another story of the Twitter CEO firing one of two remaining principal engineers in his company after the latter told the billionaire that views on his tweets were declining because people are losing interest in him.
