RES4Africa Foundation and the East Africa Centre of Excellence for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (EACREEE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance their cooperation and mutual support in renewable energy, media reports said. The partnership between both organisations is anticipated to deepen with the new agreement as they have shared vision.

Roberto Vigotti, secretary general of RES4Africa Foundation, told the media, “We are very proud to collaborate with EACREEE in the promotion of the Micro-Grid Academy, a programme that means a lot to us. RES4Africa works with Africa for Africa. Investing in the education of African young professionals means investing in Africa’s future and, with EACREEE on our side, we can see this future brighter.”

On the renewable energy front, South Africa is planning for debt savings to help the government the government lower power tariffs from previous wind and solar projects. According to South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA), the government seeks to secure cheaper electricity to support the economy.

It is reported that companies could take up to four to six months negotiate new terms with lenders. Also, 74 percent of the 64 power producers in the country have positively responded to their debt refinancing to reduce electricity prices.
