Denmark-based wind turbines manufacturer, installer and seller Vestas is set to supply wind turbines for German developer WPD’s three onshore wind projects in Taiwan, media reports said. Vestas will supply six V136-4.2 MW turbines with 112-metre towers.

The wind turbines supplied by Vestas will be installed in Chuangwei 2, Leadway 2 and Hsinyuan wind farms in Taiwan. Deliveries are expected to be made in the second quarter of next year.

Purvin Patel, Vestas Asia Pacific chief executive told the media, “We are pleased to extend our long-term partnership with our global key account, WPD in Taiwan.

“We would like to thank WPD for entrusting Vestas with these projects and strengthening our working relationship in this region. We remain committed to developing the wind industry in Taiwan and driving the adoption of renewable energy in the region.”

So far, Vestas has delivered 140 GW of wind turbines in 85 countries across the globe.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Vestas will supply turbines to a 212MW wind project in Brazil. It will supply Omega Energia with turbines for its Assurua 4 project, which is located in the cities of Gentio do Ouro and Xique-Xique, in Bahia.

Vestas will deliver the turbines to Omega Energia in 2022 and the project is expected to be functional by 2023. The deal is to deliver 47 V150-4.2MW wind turbines in 4.5MW power optimised mode and to service the turbines for the next 10 years.
