Abu Dhabi Ports have been awarded the Innovative Organisation Level 3 Certification by Global Innovation Management Institute (GIMI).
Abu Dhabi Ports is the first port and the first maritime organisation in the world to win the award from GIMI. GIMI is a US-based organisation which is recognised as the international gold standard for innovation management. It has certified more than 10,000 individuals and over 800 organisations from around the world.
The certification is a testament to Abu Dhabi Ports’ highly innovative ideas platform Ibtikar. Ibtikar translates to innovation in Arabic. It is an in-house programme that allows all stakeholders to share ideas on maritime operations.
The platform uses a collaborative approach to seek and gather ideas from employees, customers and other stakeholders. In essence, the platform will ensure those ideas are successfully implemented in order to improve maritime operations.
Group Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Ports, Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, told the local media that, “Innovation is of paramount importance here at Abu Dhabi Ports. We are committed to delivering on the goals set out in the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030, and we are proud that this award recognises our efforts to find transformational ways to develop sustainable infrastructure capable of supporting our country’s economic growth.”
Also, Abu Dhabi Ports has been awarded a Platinum Accreditation Certificate during the 33rd ideas UK International Conference, the local media reported. These certifications are expected to reinforce Abu Dhabi Ports organisation’s vision in the long run.
