Brazilian oil major Petrobras seeks to sell the Polo Urucu natural gas field and infrastructure to Eneva as part of its divestment plan. Both the companies held talks about the development earlier this week. Eneva is a power generation firm that continues to expand its presence across regions such as Amazonas and Solimoes basins. The company’s operations will be bolstered if the deal is successful.
Eneva, told the media, “The signing of the sales contracts is subject to the success of negotiations, which involve commercial and contractual aspects of the transaction that will need to be approved by decision-making bodies of both parties.”
Eneva has established gas fields such as the Polo Gavioes which account for nearly 10 percent of Brazil’s thermal power generation capacity and produce about 8.4 million cu m/d to 2.8 GW of nearby electricity generation.
Furthermore, the company secured development rights worth $ 5billion for the mature Jurua Field in the Solimoes Basin. The Polo Urucu natural gas field comprises seven production concessions and has a history of more than 30 years of production.
The latest sell off by Petrobras also include LPG, natural gas, oil storage facilities, compression station and four natural gas processing units.
Petrobras claims to have carried out crude export of 19.3 million bl in January through its Angra dos Reis terminal. The company’s crude outflows in Q4 slipped on planned maintenance at pre-salt fields in the Santos basin after posting a quarterly record last year amid the pandemic.
