According to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), in an effort to digitally empower its citizens, Kuwait has launched a national training initiative that includes skills development in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and Microsoft Copilot tools.

Named the “Kuwait Skills Programme,” the initiative is an integral part of Kuwait’s “New Kuwait 2035” vision. The goal of providing citizens with AI and cloud computing skills will be achieved through training in Microsoft Copilot tools. This recent partnership builds on Microsoft’s announcement in March 2025 to create an AI-enabled Azure cloud region in Kuwait, which will strengthen national infrastructure and support the Gulf country’s plans to become a regional technology hub.

Omar Al-Omar, the Minister of State for Communications Affairs, stated that this partnership aligns with the government’s vision of creating an integrated digital ecosystem, which will, in turn, improve public-sector efficiency and drive sustainable, innovation-driven development. Al-Omar further emphasised that empowering Kuwaiti professionals with advanced technical skills has become a key pillar in positioning the Gulf country as a leader in the digital and knowledge economy.

Noting that the programme reflects a national vision to create a generation of future-ready graduates who can contribute to a modern, innovation-driven economy with skills that promote creativity and productivity, the minister urged all government entities to seize this opportunity to refine talent and build professional capacity, reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to supporting initiatives that empower a generation capable of leading Kuwait’s digital transformation.

Microsoft’s Charles Nahas, regional general manager for the Middle East, said, “The Kuwait Skills Programme will train more than 30,000 employees, 4,000 technical experts, and 350 leaders on AI and cloud technologies, and enable over 100,000 users to use Copilot tools through a new Centre of Excellence developed with CAIT.”

He concluded by stating that the initiative aims to provide a complete transformation in Kuwait’s digital space by offering global education, recognised certifications, and career development. The partnership aligns with a shared vision to drive innovation, improve cybersecurity, and grow the Gulf country’s digital economy, benefiting public institutions and private companies.
